Hi! I'm Patrick Turbiville (he/they), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor serving adults in Texas, Colorado, Florida & South Carolina, and I love being a group therapist. Group therapy offers unique benefits that can enhance your work in individual therapy or help to continue your growth after graduating from individual therapy. For some, group therapy is a rewarding first experience in psychotherapy.
Some potential benefits of group therapy include:
I understand that an environment of respect is essential for healing and growth. I strive to address both differences and similarities between myself and my clients in a respectful and curious way. Similarly, I strive to practice from social justice, anti-racist, pro-feminist, and LGBTQ2IA+ affirming perspectives.
As I aim to be aware of my own culture, identity, and place in society; to develop evolving knowledge of specific cultures and identities of people I may come to work with; and to appropriately tend to these cultures and identities in my interactions with clients; my priority is to treat all clients as individuals whose cultures and identities I cannot know without committing the time and attention required to understand their unique life experiences.
I pledge to treat all of my clients to the best of my ability regardless of their various, intersecting identities and my personal relationship to those identities, including ability, age, appearance, culture, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, immigration status, national origin, political orientation, race, religion, sexual orientation, size, socioeconomic status, spirituality, and more.
I encourage clients to ask questions and use time in session to explore their own relationships to various identities, as well as the influence of our identities in the therapeutic process.
